Steve Braun, Indiana’s Commissioner for Workforce Development, last week toured the Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center (SICTC) as hevisited the city in celebration of International Manufacturing Day. Director of Career and Technical Education Dan Ulrich, talked about local workforce needs and how the career and tech center are fulfilling them. Ulrich took Braun throughout the facility, where he had the opportunity to see the state-of-the-art equipment and talk with several teachers.
SICTC has 22 different core areas of study ranging from the Culinary Arts and Health Sciences to Automotive Services Technology and Electricity and Robotic Technology to Precision Metalworking Technology and HVAC and Alternative Energy Systems, and more! The state-of-the-art Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center is the hub for the development and delivery of innovative, leading-edge career and technical
education, workforce development and training for the entire Southern Indiana region. Through the School of Career & Technical Education, high school students from the southern half of Spencer County, North and South Gibson and all of Posey, Vanderburgh, and Warrick counties can receive classroom and hands-on training in 22 diverse areas of study using the latest emerging technologies and equipment.
