ISTEP is administered to students in grades three through eight. ISTEP includes an applied skills assessment, called Part 1, administered in February/early March as well as multiple choice assessment, Part 2, given in late April/early May. Part 1 includes constructed responses and essays. Both the Parts 1 and 2 are combined to create a student’s score. In addition, a science assessment is given to grades four and six and a social studies assessment is administered in grades five and seven.
Parents of students who took the ISTEP test last spring should have received a letter regarding their child's performance in July. Parents should receive updated score reports in mid to late September.
Parents of current 11th graders who took ISTEP last year as 10th graders should receive a letter with information on accessing their child's scores in the online system in early September. The rescore window is September 2 through 16. Paper score reports will be emailed in late October.
