Since 2009, the EVSC has equipped high school students with netbooks and now laptops, to use as learning tools and innovation guides, teaching them the basics of digital responsibility and use of computer programs, but more importantly, how to delve deeply into subject matter. In 2011, netbooks also were distributed to all middle grade students; and in 2014, all 5th grade students will also have netbooks for daily use. With the use of computing devices, students in grades six through 12 are investigating material, creating digital presentations, conducting interviews online and so much more. Even at the elementary level, classrooms are equipped with a variety of devices for use in the school.
1:1 means that each student has their own device, to use at school, and at home. The initiative engages students in learning and provides teachers with a powerful tool to bring learning to life. In grades 9-12, students in 2014 will be receiving new Lenovo laptops for use. Grades 6-8 will be using Dell Netbooks For the 2014-15 school year, New this year, each 5th grade classroom will receive a set of netbooks allowing those teachers and students access to digital resources anytime.
