The Public Education Foundation and Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation are pleased to announce their 29th annual Summer Musical: “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” The musical will be presented July 13-16, 2017 in the Aiken Theatre at Old National Events Plaza in downtown Evansville. Show times are July 13, 14 and 15 (Thursday – Saturday) at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m.
The winner of 6 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie was the 2002 season's most awarded new show on Broadway. Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" takes you back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, when "moderns," including a flapper named Millie Dillmount, were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love.
Tri-State students currently in Grades 7-12 are invited to participate in auditions, which will be held April 4 and 5 from 3:30-8:00 p.m. in the performing arts center at the Academy for Innovative Studies on Diamond Avenue. Callbacks will be on Thursday, April 6, 3:30-8:30 p.m., also at AIS Diamond.
The production team includes Producers Amy Walker and Tiffany Ball, Director/Choreographer Robert Hunt, Vocal Director Terry Becker, Orchestra Director Kimberly Wren, Scenic Designer/Technical Director Tanya Sweet, and Lighting Designer Chuck Meacham.
