Message from the Superintendent

David Smith

Welcome to the website of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.

Located in Southern Indiana and bordered by Kentucky and Illinois, the EVSC employs 3,273 people; is the third largest public school corporation in the State of Indiana; and serves more than 23,000 students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12.  These schools include  21 elementary schools, seven middle schools, five high schools, five specialized high school academies, and a school of career and technical studies.

As you explore this website, you will learn about exciting programs and read about the many achievements of our students and staff.  It is our privilege to teach your child by providing a wide range of opportunities that engage your child in learning and in preparation to become a thriving citizen.  Education is one of our community’s highest priorities, and we have forged many partnerships in our community with parents, residents, business leaders and elected officials that allow us to meet this shared responsibility with commitment and vigor.

I personally invite you to visit our schools so you can become acquainted with the principals and staff and see the outstanding opportunities available for our students.  Please call the school in advance, so the principal can be available to visit with you and answer any questions you may have.  While this website has been designed to give you some basic information about the EVSC, its policies and procedures, and events that will take place during the year, please know it does not replace the personal communication between home and the school that we encourage.

Documents you may want to investigate include our annual report, "State of our Schools;" and our recently adopted Strategic Plan/Continuous Improvement Process, "What We Believe."

David B. Smith
