Perry Heights Teacher Receives March Cause for Applause

Thad Immel, math teacher at Perry Heights, was selected as the EVSC’s March Cause for Applause award winner. The award seeks to recognize individuals who go above and beyond their normal job responsibilities.

According to Perry Heights assistant principal Jeannette Lindauer, Immel dedicates more time than any other teacher she has seen in her 20 years with the EVSC. He attends every single extra curricular activity from volleyball and basketball games, before school tutoring and academic super bowl meets. He also attends all professional development opportunities offered, even for other content areas.

Even after all that, Lindauer says that watching him teach is where her true admiration for him started. “When I walk into his classroom, he is like another person. Teacher is a gift that he has…His passion shows every time I walk into his room.”

Lindauer also says that Immel sends graduation cards to every former student when they graduate from Reitz.

Immel has worked for the EVSC since 1992.

Anyone can nominate an employee of the EVSC for the award. Deadline for nominations is the third Friday of each month. Go to for the nomination form. Paper forms are available at the schools for those without access to the Internet.
