Infant/Todder

In addition Preschool programs, The EVSC also offers Infant and Toddler programs through Bosse High School's Teen Parent Program and the Culver Family Learning Center's Even Start Program.

EVSC Even Start Program
The EVSC Even Start program is a family literacy program where families and their young children come to school together. Priority is given to families with low income and less than a 12th grade education. Early childhood programs serve children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Even Start is an Integrated Four-Component Family Literacy Program

1) Adult Education
The adult education program helps to meet the goals of participants. Assistance is offered in the study of basic education skills, preparation for the High School Equivalency test, or further education in preparation for a job. Classroom instruction includes individual and group lessons as well as computer tutorials.

2) Early Childhood
The Even Start program offers a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program. The curriculum emphasizes language development and learning experiences.

3) Parent and Child
Each day parents play and learn together with their children in the early childhood classrooms. These experiences include reading to their children, participation in circle time, and community field trips.

4) Parent Time
The strengths, interests, goals, and requests of parents guide planning for parent time. Emphasis is on the child development, health issues, nutrition, literacy, and language.
