Multi-Grade High Ability Identification Process
The process begins with the administration of a screening protocol. All kindergarten, second, fourth and seventh grade students are screened using an achievement assessment.
After the screening takes place, students are identified for administration of the high ability aptitude measure.
A combination of the following criteria may be used to identify our high ability students:
• Potential-based (aptitude) Measure: Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
• Performance-based (achievement) Measure: NWEA MAP Growth
• Other Measures: Parent and teacher rating scales
Off Grade Level & New Students
Off grade-level identification will be considered for students who transferred into the EVSC and were not afforded the opportunity to participate in screening at either their kindergarten, second, fourth, or seventh grade year. Please reach out to your school counselor for more information.
