School Hours

Lengthening the school day provides more time for quality instruction for your child. It also provides additional time for teachers to plan, meet, and share professionally with other teachers regarding how to help your children succeed.
On April 21, 2014, the Board of School Trustees for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation approved a new school day for the 2014-15 school year.
The new school day for elementary and middle school students lengthens the amount of time students will be in school by 34 minutes,  and new start and end times for all EVSC schools will be established.
The new school day will give students additional instructional time and allow teachers expanded opportunities for collaboration.
Currently, elementary schools are in session from 8:15 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.  Students attending high school*, middle school and K-8 schools are in session from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Note: Hours for the Academy for Innovative Studies - Diamond Campus are 7:55 a.m. - 1:55 p.m. and hours for AIS - First Avenue are: 8 a.m. - 2:55 p.m.
